Top Ten Learning points this week.

1. If you're wearing a watch with a magnetic clasp, be warned.  Your stainless steel sock needles could possibly get sucked out of their place and totally mess up your work.  You may need to re-cast-on three or four times because of this.  Take the watch off.  It will make things easier.

2. My needles are, in fact, stainless steel.

3.  Your magnetic clasp will also attach itself to the fancy new circular knitting needle cable that you love.  Take the watch off. It will make things easier.

4. If you value your life and your yarn, warn your husband before you untangle a giant skein of brown chunky cotton yarn.  Otherwise as you work, it will seem to be alive and crawl up your chair and everyone will get perilously close to death.

5. Ball winders are amazingly more complicated than you could ever imagine.

6. Brioche is not for sissies.  Brioche in the round is fine until you get to the join.  Then, I still don't know what is going on.

7. DO write down amazingly helpful notes about how brioche works, after figuring out the patterns and nuances, so that you can post those things for others who are beginning, but can't seem to make heads or tails of what is happening on their needles.

8. Do NOT write down amazingly helpful brioche notes on a piece of scrap paper or maybe a design note, or possibly a pattern page and then lose it.

9.  It's always cheaper to just buy the thing you want from Target or Amazon than it is to try to buy the appropriate yarn and knit it yourself.

10. It's way more fun to make the thing you want instead of buying it from Target or Amazon.  No one else will have the same thing.  Because, I would return the things to target or amazon if they had seams like the brioche leg warmers I'm making for my little ballerina.
